Institutional Identities
It’s hard to beat the omnipresence of the term “heimat” (home) in German everyday culture. Does this ubiquitous and concrete place even exist? And if so, is it a singular place at all? Is it not rather an indeterminate place of (childhood) memories or a subjective desired place of past dreams, hopes and longings? We designed printed matter for a mono-thematic art exhibition embarking on an open search for the yearning non-place. With contributions by Christian Jankowski, Ferhat Ayne, Georg Lutz, Havin Al Sindy, Ina Wudtke, Kerstin Drechsel, Marlies Pöschl, Ming Wong, Nasan Tur, Schwäbischer Online-Albverein, Silvio Motta.
For Kunstraum 34, we designed a variety of different institutional identities such as “Klangraum” festival. “Klangraum Festival” presents music and art in which musical-acoustic, visual and scenic elements are combined in various ways. Since its foundation in 1985, the festival has been an experimental crossover event to which national and international musicians and visual artists are invited. The festival focuses on new music, improvisation and sound collages, which are often linked by a common theme.
Studio Tillack Knöll is a multicreative design practice that concerns itself with the visual and spatial aspects of communication. We design exhibitions, wayfinding systems, books, visual identities and digital experiences for a variety of clients involved in architecture, art, science and commerce to cultural institutions and NGOs.
