Sommer Der Künste: Villa Massimo zu Gast in Stuttgart

The interdisciplinary cooperation project “Summer of the Arts” shows works by the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 Villa Massimo Rome Prize winners in eight institutions in Stuttgart. Centerpiece of this institutional identity is the poster we created, that makes the viewer momentarily long for the summer. But what exactly do we see? An awning? A parasol? A beach towel? A shed? A stone from a Roman excavation? As part of a larger identity, we leave this question unanswered and let the imagination run wild.

A moving poster has also been created to accompany the printed poster. It was displayed in all participating institution as well as displayed on social media.

The leaflet represents the identities core. Its 32 pages not only contain information about the events, but also the biographies of the Villa’s scholarship holders. Most events were held during the inaugural weekend, the festivals duration was over 6 months after all.

The institutional identity consisted of various matters of on-site communication at the participating locations. Our graphic tools ranged from simple vinyl text on walls, to flags and stencils for power washers and to beach umbrellas with information attached to them.
