MHP Arena, VfB Stuttgart

One of the new higlights of VfB Stuttgart’s renovated stadium is its business center located in the heart of its main grandstand. Besides the prestigious boxes in the upper floor of the business center, we have equipped the lounge areas as well as the tunnel club, one of the first of its kind in Germany, with a wayfindingsystem.

The design concept draws on a strong, existing symbol: the VfB Stuttgart crest. Pictograms are developed from this symbol, which carry the motif forward and translate it into the wayfinding system. The crest organizes information, structures content, and establishes a hierarchy—subtly yet clearly—while the system itself remains understated. And yet there is a small break: a narrow red border on the ceiling signs. The business areas bear names from the club’s and city’s history: Marktplatz, Schlossplatz, Stöckachplatz, Legendenplatz. Places that evoke images in the mind and foster a sense of belonging. The wayfinding system speaks quietly and allows the architecture its space.
