Kunst, Verein, wagen, Halle:
A signage system for a unique production facility
Signage system and identity for Kustverein Wagenhalle e.V., located at Stuttgart’s Nordbahnhof. The K,V,w,H is home to over 100 artists, architects, filmmakers, actors and actresses, dancers, photographers, urban planners, musicians and like-minded creatives. Since 2004, the Wagenhalle has been home to a unique production facility for all sorts of creative endeavours. Disciplines such as painting, music, photography, architecture, construction, theatre, puppet making curation and design are present.
We developed an identity-creating wayfinding system and implemented it on the grounds of the Wagenhalle that represents the Kunstverein. After the building renovation and its completion in summer 2020, it was the optimal timeframe. Furthermore, its members on site and, the location it is in the neighbourhood, profit from it. Due to urban developments, it is extremely necessary for the association to gain visibility beyond the boundaries of its own area.
The typeface “Nordi Sans” as a base for this identity-creating wayfinding system
During the production of this signage system, we developed a bespoke typeface, “Nordi Sans”. It was used for the signage system as well as the Kunstverein and it’s identity. Nordi Sans was developed with developement assistance by Nolan Paparelli and helps to shape this identity-creating wayfinding system.
Subsequently, we designed and built the mural »Niemand hat das Recht zu gehorchen« with Nam Huynh, Hans-Jörg Seidler and Levin Stadler. The department of Culture and Arts, City of Stuttgart was responsible for its funding.
